Get In The Arena
If you are ever faced with having to make a courageous decision, then read these words over and over again. I guarantee it will help.
In his “Citizenship in a Republic" address in Paris on April 23, 1910, Theodore Roosevelt delivered these arguments for human daring which are as inspirational today as they were then.
In the speech, Roosevelt emphasized the importance of action and effort, stating that the credit belongs to the individual actively participating, not the critic.
He highlighted the value of daring greatly, even in failure, over remaining a detached spectator.
This concept of daring greatly, widely explored in Brené Brown’s profound book, is at the very cornerstone of courage.
She argued, just as astutely in her TED talk, for the courage to “get in the arena”.
Courage in both professional and personal life.
The courage to find your potential.
The courage to pursue your personal best.
I’m not sure about you, but 2025 has felt like a year of an endless series of courageous decisions for me.
And what I have found is this, that the beauty of courage is that it is contagious.
So please:
-> Ask for that promotion
-> Take that flight
-> Quit that job
-> Enter that race
-> Declare your love for that person
-> Risk it all, to win it all
For if you never try, you’ll never know.
