Art of Reconnecting
Reconnecting. Going back to something.
Is that so wrong?
We are bombarded by rhetoric that the only way is forwards.
That we need continuous development in a new direction in order to grow.
That personal growth can only come in the form of a linear line, up and to the right.
Onwards and upwards, they say.
But what about backwards?
When we go backwards, and reconnect with something from our past, we have the chance to see it in a new light.
To see it with wisdom and compassion.
I took Tess out yesterday to a hidden beach that I hadn’t paddled to for a few years, one that held profound memories of both deep love and agonising loss.
I sat with the emotion, good and bad, and allowed myself to feel all the feelings.
To heal.
It was great to go backwards.
Great to reconnect.
The arrow has to be pulled back before being released.
